In roughly 40 hours, Mark and I will board a plane.
24 or so hours after that we will land on foreign ground.
Through the miracle of flight, we will soar through the air at 500 miles an hour to a part of the world neither of us has ever experienced. A place that will not only feel like a different country, but a different planet.
We will experience sights, sounds and smells that will offend our spoiled Western noses.
The things we are so accustomed to will not be available.
There will undoubtedly be times of discomfort – humidity and heat like we’ve never known.
There will be moments of shock, mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally as we see the darkness of the sex trade and its results on these people who so desperately need hope and new life.
Without question, we will experience the fatigue of endless hours of travel and a 15 hour time change.
AND I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
Any and every difficulty we face will be ridiculously outweighed by the thrill of seeing Janay and her new world in Cambodia.
To throw our arms around our daughter who travelled 8,500 miles to answer the call that God began putting on her heart 25 years ago. To kiss her face, look into her eyes, hold her hand and hear her voice without the help of a computer or telephone screen.
To meet the wonderful friends that have become her second family and have provided her with the sweet community that God so graciously orchestrated for her.
To see the work that she is doing, the light she is bringing, the impact she is having.
To walk the streets that she walks, travel via tuk tuk in traffic whose laws are merely suggestions, and begin to see through her eyes why God has called her to this place.
To fall in love with these people who have captured her heart and soul and to be able to put faces to the names we have heard about for the past six months.
Please pray that the restlessness in our legs during 22 hours of flight will be far surpassed by a restlessness in our souls for the rescue and salvation of these girls so ensnared by pure evil.
Pray that our hearts are open wide to love bigger, to pray harder.
Pray that what we experience will change us forever with greater compassion and vision, to see this broken world through God’s loving, merciful eyes.
And pray that as we board the plane to return home that we will smile through our tears, knowing without a doubt that 8,000 miles away from us is exactly where our daughter is meant to be.

John 8:36 – So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
We are SO excited for you, Mark and Janae! I’m sure Janae will be incredibly encouraged to share with you her lifestyle and mission and to find some rest in the familiarity of her parents!! We will be praying for you guys- that God would indeed open your ears, eyes and hearts to the suffering, evil and corruption that exists among the innocent girls who are being used and mistreated. I also pray that He ignites your hearts to pray for for freedom and to be confident that people like Janae are there to bring HOPE and STARTLING LIGHT to the very dark darkness.
Amen and amen, sister! Thank you for doing such an amazing work in Spain and for also going into a place of darkness because you have THE LIGHT to share. I miss you terribly and wish we could just sit and have coffee every so often!!!! xoxoxoxo
