Some of the beautiful noise that I experienced this past weekend was time with my brother and sister-in-law. Toasting to the reality that we have the privilege of being family, but the sweet luxury of being friends. Thankful will never be a strong enough word.
One of the conversations that came up was started with a question that Jordan asked me. “Your word for 2014 is ‘collide’. How has God used that word in your life?” A great question. A an awesome prompting and reminder for me. I hadn’t really stopped and considered my 2014 word for a while and really made me think.
It’s such a strange word to have for a key word for the year. But I felt it was from God, even though I really didn’t understand. What has God done with that word in the past four months?
As it turns out, LOTS! And as I started looking back at the last 20 or so weeks, things kept coming to mind. Like I was opening a treasure chest of brand new miracles all over again!
Collide – What happened when the box of my old thinking met with the box cutter of new spiritual eyes and understanding.
Collide – What occurred with diverse relationships and unrelated events and circumstances became interwoven to form new tapestries of beauty.
Collide – Where past bumped into present and both locked arms to face future.
Collide – When sin hit truth and died.
Collide – The explosion of life that occurred when creativity was introduced to every day ministry.
The list goes on and on and the more I recount, the longer that list gets.
Maybe COLLIDE wasn’t such a strange word after all.
And maybe, just maybe we’re not even halfway through a year that promises that word will continue to show its lovely face…
Ephesians 3:20 – Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Psalm 126:3 – Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy!
2 Corinthians 2:9 – That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
