Today has been a day…

Mark found out this morning that he no longer has a job.  Way to turn a world upside down.  Time for a bike ride…

Janay came home today after she got the news to make sure we were okay.  She changed her work schedule so that we can have a family dinner and talk about all that happened today and where we go from here.  Such a girl. So, after the three of us spent some time talking, Janay and I took off on our cruisers and pedaled all around the neighborhood.  It was glorious.  The temperature was perfect.  The sun hidden behind some soft, non-threatening  clouds.  We decided that it was the perfect weather for being a little melancholy.  Not hot and obnoxiously cheery and sunny.  Not raining so as to be too dreary and depressing.  Just somewhere in the middle.  Perfect for a bike ride.

We giggled and laughed as we passed the place I had crashed with Petunia, the last time I’d ridden.  We let the breeze blow through our hair and kiss our faces.  It was glorious.  With no other distractions or chores or responsibilities in view for the moment, we talked freely about what this news meant to our lives.  How we can already see God working and are confident of His loving hand in all of this.  She is an amazing young woman with an extraodinary heart, and it was fun to just be able to revel in that for a little while and enjoy each other’s company while gliding down the street.  Simple time.  Precious time.

I don’t know what tomorrow looks like.  I definitely don’t know what next year holds. I don’t have any idea what God will provide.  But I know He will. And I have a God who loves me so much that in the middle of  the “chaos” He gave me a sweet bike ride that felt like peace, contentment and trust.

Felt a little like Moses today…God showed up in the clouds and promised His manna in the middle of the desert….

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
