As many of you have seen on Facebook, when I post things (instagram pictures) from my phone, I have more than a few typos. Texting, though done numerous times a day, proves to be a problem for my hurried fingers.
One mistype seems to be consistent – hitting the “i” instead of the “o”.
It changes “whole” to “while”.
“Wore” to “wire”.
“Son” to “sin”.
And “love” to “live”.
How many times have I tried to type “love you” and ended up with “live you”? Too many to count.
If I was texting Jesus every day with the message “I love You”, it would undoubtedly show up as “I live You”.
And I’m thinking that might not be such a bad thing.
If I really, truly LOVE Jesus, then I will really, truly LIVE Jesus, too. I won’t just talk about how I feel about Him. I’ll show it in how I live my life. My reactions, my conversations, my interactions, my choices, my activities, my love for others will reflect Jesus.
Which is exactly what Jesus meant when He said, “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me….If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.” (John 14:21 &23). And what were those commands and teachings? To love God and to love people. To LIVE a life directed by the LOVE of God. A life LIVED, not just with a theoretical love, but with a real and vibrant and practical LOVE that colors everything we do.
Maybe poor typing skills aren’t such a bad thing if they make me stop and think and look deep inside.
I love/live that!
