(Sometimes there’s just no substitute for the real thing!)
My diet’s packed with veggies
I drink water ’til I’m blue
I’ve cut way back on sugar
On fat and gluten, too.
Sometimes though, a growling starts
So deep within my gut
That makes me forget common sense
Or the inches on my butt.
It starts out pure and simple
Then grows into something new
How terrible can it really be?
Aren’t potatoes veggies, too?
Their body shape is long and thin
(just like I want mine to be)
Baked, not fried, ’til golden brown
With salt gathered from the sea.
Then generously I sprinkle them
With natural calcium
In the form of cheddar cheese
My watering mouth says, “Yum!”
Crunchy on the outside
Soft and tender deep within
Melty, cheesy, gooey, warm
How can this be a sin?
Pinterest tells me cauliflower
Can be a substitute
Minus starchy, naughty carbs
With recipes to boot.
But there’s something about cheese fries
That cannot be replaced
By another “less than” vegetable
With a “less than” potato taste.
Tomorrow is a new day
Back to my healthy diet
But today I’ll love my cheese fries
If you haven’t, you should try it!
They are at least, still gluten free 😉
Thank you, Jennie….I feel better already! 🙂
