The more life I live and the more people I come to know, the more I see how each and every one of us is in need of kindness, understanding and grace.  We are all unique and have unique circumstances and needs.  Thankfully, we have a God who is familiar with each of our struggles and needs.  I’m so glad His  ways of loving each of us is not limited to my understanding of that love.  I hope that I can dive in to all that He offers and come out drenched and ready to share the refreshment of His love, grace and mercy with others.

For not taking my lead

In how You forgive and meet other’s needs.

Your ways are beyond mine

It’s so clear to see

You love with abandon – Your mercy is free.

But if You were like me

You’d hold back the best

For those who deserve it, then THOSE You would bless.

If You were like me

You’d judge without knowing

The story behind the wrongs that are showing.

If You lived in the box

That I put You in

I wouldn’t be freed from the box of my sin.

If You stayed in the lines

That I’ve drawn in the sand

I’d never see miracles done by Your hand.

If You were like me

The world WOULD be flat

Paper doll people all the same and exact.

If You were like me

You’d be blind to the pain

Of those that walk by me again and again.

But Your ways are NOT my ways

Your love goes beyond

The box I’ve constructed, the lines that I’ve drawn.

Your grace has no boundaries

Your mercy, no limit

You’ve asked me join You and dive deeply in it.

And as I emerge

From this beautiful sea

I find I become more like You, less like me.

If You were like me

Life would not be worth living

So make me like YOU

Full of grace, love. Forgiving.

Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 3:20 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…

1 John 4:19 – We love each other because he loved us first.
