One Nation.  Under GOD.

Some of us woke up to happy news this morning.  Some of us woke up to sad.  Some of us are pleased with the results of the election and some of us feel depressed.

But here is the truth of the matter. We recognize it in the Pledge of Allegiance that we have been saying as we put our hands over our hearts all of our lives.  We are one nation, UNDER GOD.

God is very much aware of what is going on, who would win and who would lose.  He didn’t look away for a minute and miss something.  He has a plan.  No matter who takes the role of President of our nation, God is still in charge.  He is still very much in control no matter who sits in the White House or who “controls” the House and the Senate.

None of us knows exactly what the future holds.  But God does.  He’s not afraid.  If we trust Him, if we trust that He loves us madly, deeply, truly, if we trust that He has a plan for our country and for each of us as individuals, then we don’t need to be afraid either.

I have friends who are pleased with last night’s results and friends who are disappointed.  But we are ONE nation.  Each of us has the right  to live out what we believe personally and to share that with our world, but we also have the responsibility to treat each other with respect, even and especially in our differences.  We have the ability to fill in each other’s gaps if we recognize each other’s strengths and our own weaknesses.

There are things that may not go as some of us would like after this election.  But the one thing that will NOT change for us as individuals and as a nation is God’s deepest desire for us:  TO LOVE HIM AND TO LOVE OTHERS.  Only when we do this will we truly be living out our pledge to be ONE NATION, UNDER GOD…

Romans 13:1 – Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Luke 10:27 – He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
