One of the best things for me about writing this blog is the accountability. Especially when my hubby reads it.
Yesterday morning I woke up with a vague sense of being overwhelmed. So much to do, so little time. I was near tears when Mark said to me, “Remember what you wrote about yesterday? Enjoy the process. It doesn’t have to get done today. Just take one thing at a time.” Thanks, bud. Way to use my own words against me!
God gives me those same reminders – “The same thing that you wrote about Me yesterday is still true today. Savor that reality in this situation. It’s not by accident that what you believe is being tried in true life practicality. I’m right here. So let’s go do this thing.”
And so I did. I prayed for a change of attitude and perspective and headed into the rest of my day with my hand in God’s, trusting that He would give me the strength, the time and the motivation to do the necessary and let go of the rest.
Strangely enough, I got a lot done yesterday. Not because I toiled away in frustration and panic, but because, like Mark said, I took “one thing at a time” and savored it instead of rushing it. Inviting Jesus to join me in my projects allowed me to enjoy them and relax while doing them instead of wishing I were done and could move on to the next. It ended up being a satisfying and very productive day.
Every time I sit down to write, I am sharing with you what God is teaching me at that very moment. And sometimes it’s people like you or my husband (:-)) that God uses to remind me of those lessons when they are most needed.
Accountability. Gotta love it…
Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
