I pity the soul that ran next to me
On the treadmill at the gym.
The fragrance of the sweat that came out of my pores
I’m sure wafted over to him.
The power of garlic so sweet on my tongue
Graced my taste buds just yesterday
But the power went on far after the taste
In potent and pungent ways.
The breath was the first to carry it’s scent
Far stronger than my gum could fight.
The mixture of garlic and sweet peppermint
Is, can I say, just not right.
But the odor went on through this body of mine
And made its way to my veins deep.
It woke me at midnight with a horrible stench
That kept me from falling asleep.
There’s something about it that shifts once inside
And what once smelled so good smells so bad
I’m sure when I got off the treadmill today
All those around me were glad.
The moral of this silliness is
Be careful what you eat
What starts out going in your mouth
May come out through your feet!
