Are the lights that dress my Christmas tree
A slight reminder of
The star that shone so bright that night
The brilliant finder of
Shepherds on a hillside
Lowly, humble, poor
Wise men looking for a sign
Rich, respected seeking more?
Do the presents wrapped in bows
Remind me of gifts given
To a six pound Savior, King
Himself, a Gift from heaven?
Does the glow of candles
Burning warm and bright
Remind me that a baby came
To give the world His light?
Delicious cookies baking
That soon we’ll gladly eat
Do they remind me of a Child
Who offered Life so sweet?
Do friends and loved ones ’round the fire
Remind me of the thought
That once a Son came to the world
And for His family fought?
Do all the preparations made
Remind me of the day
God came in flesh, a tiny child
Prepared, my life to save?
Remind me, lights and gifts and bows
Remind me, candles bright
Remind me, loved ones round the fire
Of my Jesus born that night…
John 1:14 – The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
