This morning I enjoyed the delicious company of a sweet friend over a cup of coffee on a comfy couch.  The coffee was really, really good, but it couldn’t come close to the richness of conversation that we shared.  Hearts connected and sharing at very real, very honest, very vulnerable places.  She took the risk to be transparent and she has never been more beautiful to me.  Friend, I hope you know how much our conversation meant to me.  Precious.  Thank you.

I love having that same transparency with God.  I love the fact that I don’t have to say what I think He wants to hear.  He knows my heart and He wants me to share from that place. Sometimes it will be raw and ugly.  Sometimes there will be questions and tears.  But there will also be times of  incredible joy and gratefulness.  Times of awe and amazement.  When Jesus is a part of every minute of every day, there is no avoiding the vast array of emotions and thoughts that we experience.  They are part of our existence and who we are.  And He wants us to share it all with Him.

The thing is, He sees the big picture.  He knows the outcome of all we encounter in this life.  He wrote the story and knows the choices that we will make.  Our “inappropriate” reactions to life do not scare Him or throw Him off.  He knows that we have limited visibility and that that fact affects how we respond sometimes when we can’t see past today.  He is ready for our honesty.  And in that honesty, we can trust that He is working on something good.  As we look to Him with honest, open, available hearts, He begins to show us a little bit more of the big picture, and as fear diminishes and trust grows, our perspective and thus our “ugly” emotions and reactions begin to change.

There was a something special and unique that happened today as my friend and I shared thoughts and tears.  Our relationship went to the next level of depth.  Because she let me into the inside stuff.  That’s where God wants to go with us.  To that honest, real place where relationship thrives and grows.  Not a perfect place of  “acceptable”
emotions and responses.  But a place where truth reigns supreme and hearts connect…

1 Peter 5:7 – Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Ephesians 6:18 – And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
