Someone pulled the shade today
And tried to block the sun
The room took on a whole new look
As if night had begun
Friendly shadows changed to dark
As light began to fade
My eyes adjusting to the dim
When someone pulled the shade.
Tears began to well within
My heart began to fear
Afraid of the dark, of being alone
Of the darkness in my mirror.
No longer could I see the truth
Of who I really was
I couldn’t see Your hand at work
The pulled shade was the cause.
But in the dark I heard a noise
Of Someone in the room
Who walked over to the window
Where light was blocked by gloom.
And as the shade was lifted
My eyes began to see
Your hand that pulled the shade up
And light poured in on me.
You had never left the room
Though I couldn’t see Your face
When even my own reflection
Was nothing but a trace.
For though a shade was pulled today
It couldn’t block the sun
The Son was right there in the room
And new light had begun….
2 Samuel 22:29 – You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.
Psalm 18:28 – You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.
