After hearing another story of sadness and fear and disappointment this weekend my heavy heart longs to give people hope.  To remind them that they are not alone.  And they never will be….

Fear of abandonment is huge and is responsible for so many of our other fears. We have been hurt and left and disappointed.  We desperately do not want to be left alone in this world.  The thought is terrifying.  And so, instead of making ourselves vulnerable again to to that possibility, we don’t reach out, or step out or love with all our hearts.  If we don’t invest too much, then we don’t have too much to lose, right?

But do we really want to live that way?  Half-hearted at everything we do, every relationship we have?  Do we want to be so careful that we miss the “all-in” thrill of living fully and fearlessly?

What if we are so sure, so secure in the fact that Jesus will never abandon or leave us?  What if we fully rely on the fact that we are loved beyond measure by the One who says nothing can separate us from that love?  Would that make a difference?  Would it give us the confidence we need, to know that no matter what happens in our lives, no matter how others treat us,  that we are loved by God and that He will never leave us?

Those two facts combined are a powerful force.  They make it okay to live out loud, fully and with abandon.  If I know that I will never, ever be alone then I will take chances and love with everything in me and not be afraid of rejection or failure.  I will move forward instead of being paralyzed. I won’t be controlled by fear or anxiety. I will have a humble confidence that nothing in this world determines my worth or value. And I am never alone.  I am truly, deeply, madly loved by the God of the universe.  How can that not be enough?

Joshua 1:5 – No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 49:15-16 – Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget,  I will not forget you!  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;  your walls are ever before me.

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
