(people tend to worry about me when I write things like this. today when i wrote this it wasn’t because of a current struggle, but remembering storms in the past. when those storms come, i want to somehow embrace them as something that has come into my life with purpose and for a greater good. i want to remember each time that i am in love with the one who allows no storm in my life except those that he has ordained from a heart of intense love. i want to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that as i lean into and not away from the storm holding tightly to him, that each storm will have its own lovely rainbow at the end, in colors new and vibrant in contrast to the gray and dark skies preceding it.)
Matthew 8:23-27 – Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
v. 1 –
clouds are moving in
this blue sky is turning gray
the calm before the storm is almost gone
the beauty of the sun
and the glory of its rays
disappear with every raincloud coming on
chorus –
don’t let me run inside
don’t let me run and hide
I want to stretch my arms out wide
and kiss the rain
hear the thunder, unafraid
watch the lightning now displayed
feel the storm that’s on its way
and kiss the rain….
v. 2 –
red skies this morning
give this sailor warning
of winds that can change on a dime
will i face these clouds
or just cower in my doubt
will i finally get it right this time?
chorus –
don’t let me run inside
don’t let me run and hide
I want to stretch my arms out wide
and kiss the rain
hear the thunder, unafraid
watch the lightning now displayed
feel the storm that’s on its way
and kiss the rain….
bridge –
though the wind blows around me
though storm clouds surround me
i’ll dance in this rain drenching me
and through all of the gray
i know that today
a rainbow of promise I’ll see….
help me see….
and until I see…
help me kiss the rain…

We all worry about you. 🙂
All of us are constantly going through Storms, so we are so very lucky to have your writings and lessons from the past to help us through.
