I am my own worst enemy. The critical judge of everything I do, say and think. The way I look and how I act. I even distrust my own intentions sometimes. Maybe it’s because I so fully know my own weaknesses. But maybe it’s because I don’t really know at all how Jesus sees me and what He think of me. I can’t really comprehend His love.
I decided to look up some verses that describe what His love looks like. Here are just a few of them….(I highlighted the phrases and words that describe His unfathomable love for us. I hope it encourages you like it did me this morning 🙂 )
Psalm 139:13 – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Ephesians 3:16-20 – “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
Psalm 36:5 -7 – “Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast. How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.”
Genesis 1:27 – “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Jeremiah 1:4-5 “The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Isaiah 49:15-16 – “Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.”
Zephaniah 3:17 – “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Ephesians 2:4-5 – “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
Jeremiah 31:3 – “The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”
Psalm 136:26 – “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” (NIV)
Lamentations 3:22 – 25 – Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
Luke 12: 6-7 – “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
1 John 4:9-10 – “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 15:9 – “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.”
Titus 3: 4 – “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”
1 John 3:1 – “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
Romans 8: 35-39 – “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.”
Jesus, please help us to understand a little bit more today of how crazy, amazing Your love truly is…
