I am never at a loss for embarrassing moments.  Ever.  But do they have to happen quite so often?

Last night we (Legend) had a basketball game against our rival (Ponderosa).  Phenomenal, nail-biting game to the very last millisecond.  And we won!

The gym was packed out, with standing room only.  We were wedged together in a mass of screaming, sweaty fans.  It was crazy.  It was loud.  It was intense.  And it was absolutely awesome!

But the place where I was squished into my bleacher seat was not where I had originally settled my tushie.  No, that would have been way too easy.  Slightly boring even.

Mark led the way up the quickly filling bleachers.  I followed behind, throwing out hello’s as I climbed the stairs to the top, where we would have a wall to lean against. I should never try to climb stairs and be social at the same time. Too distracting. Once at the top, I plopped my purse down in front of me and snuggled in close to Mark.  Which would have been fine, had it really been Mark.  As I leaned down to get something out of my purse, a voice next to me said, “Well, hello there!”  I looked up to see the face of another basketball parent, a man looking at me with the most quizzical look on his face.  I’m sure the look on my face was one of dread as I felt myself blush.  Mark was nowhere to be seen and here I had wedged myself in between this guy and another person.  I quickly apologized, saying “I thought you were my husband!”, and visually tried to locate where my actual husband had gone.  Thankfully, this man has a wonderful sense of humor and we had a huge laugh over it.

Later that night, after the incredible game and dinner out with everyone, Mark and I headed to Walmart to pick up a couple of things for the team breakfast this morning.  I waited in the car while Mark ran in.  Exhausted, I leaned my head back against the car seat.  Out of the corner of my eye, I could see that a car next to me was backing up slowly and very deliberately.  I thought this was strange and wondered if it was someone I knew.  As the driver came into my vision, I recognized the now very familiar face.  A face that I had very recently seen up close and personal.  The window rolled down and the same voice said, “I’m sorry I parked so close….I thought you were my wife!”
