Thank you, Jesus. A great day today. Started off with coffee with my friend Laura. We only had an hour to chat and it flew by too quickly. But it was delicious while it lasted. Then Teresa took me to a Christian Women Business Owner luncheon at the Marriott. Teresa owns her own business as a hairdresser and has been in the business for nearly thirty years. What on earth was I doing going to lunch with this group of women? I’ve only had one paid job in my business so far. Still, it sounded like a great learning opportunity. It ended up being so much more…
There were about 12 of us. We started off with a devotional time, and then over lunch, we each got about five minutes to talk about our business and answer any questions people might have. It was awesome! Everyone was so supportive of one another with great questions, great tips and the common denominator of everyone’s passion for their business coming from their love for God. The businesses were as varied as the women there. There were also non-profits represented. So great. We all exchanged business cards and prayed for each other. One of the gals grabbed me on her way out and said, “I’ll be calling you!!!”
I was a newbie. Both in the meeting and in the business world. But you never would have known it by how they treated me. It was a great representation of women who had discovered their skills and abilities and gifts and have learned how to celebrate them and use them to glorify God and benefit others. And it was a really beautiful thing. Women recognizing their value in God’s eyes and desiring to pass that on to other women. Truly lovely. Inspiring. And greatly encouraging.
Many of these women have businesses and strengths that I plan on tapping into. Things that I could never do. And it looks as if they will be doing the same with me. Hmmmmmm….sounds like the body of Christ and how it’s meant to work. Everyone offering their strengths to each other, encouraging, and praying for each other. And although it was a girls only meeting, Jesus was right there in the middle of it all, smiling…
Yep. I’ll definitely be back next month. 🙂
