Mark did his second half marathon today! We were so proud of him and it’s fun to see and hear his excitement about this sport he has come to love and be energized by. It was about half the amount of runners as his Seattle experience and more hills, but he was blessed with a beautiful day to run.
Hours later he got on a plane to go to Oklahoma for business this week. This left Abby and I alone, as Blake is visiting in Phoenix this weekend and won’t be home til tomorrow night. So we decided that, inspired by Mark’s great example, that we would do a marathon of our own. And so, after church today, we planted ourselves on the family room couches and turned on the Law and Order SVU marathon. And it was tough. Grueling. All that time on the couch just sitting and lying down and eating. Difficult stuff. And giggling and more giggling. Both of us feeling slightly guilty for being couch potatoes, but also enjoying a quiet day when nothing HAD to be done. I can’t even remember if I have ever in my life done this. My first marathon. Exhausting. 🙂
It was fun to just be with my girl all by ourselves and relax and be silly and just enjoy each other’s company fully after a big and busy week. And tomorrow we will recuperate from our marathon experience by hitting the gym double time….:-)
