Off to the airport
Two planes to catch
Throw in the suitcases
Slam down the hatch
Jump in the car
Three boys and me
Left right on time –
At four o’thirty
The trip there, uneventful
Until we got there
Every parking place filled
With few spots left to spare
We jumped out of the car
Wait! Where was my purse?
I should have known right then and there
It was the Jana curse
But no time to reminisce
About my past mistakes
So off to the ticket counter
To check a large suitcase
Two hugs to two boys twice my size
We all say our goodbyes
And wave and turn to head back out
And now one more surprise
Back down to level one we go
As we head out of the lot
But as I get to the check out gate
l remember what I forgot
My purse is where I left it
And is no good to me
When I need two lousy dollars
To pay the man looking at me
I sheepishly say, “I forgot my purse”
His english wasn’t good
I wasn’t sure what he said next
Not sure he understood
He made a couple phone calls
Then told me to “wait five”
He put a cone behind my car
So others wouldn’t drive (up behind me)
A good thing that the cone was there
Cuz five minutes turned to twenty
Before the supervisor showed
With paperwork aplenty
Thank goodness he was friendly
But he still seemed so confused
That I didn’t have my i.d.
“It’s in my purse,” I mused
Long story short he let me go
With a bill and envelope
So I could send in my two bucks
My lesson learned, he hoped
The moral of this story
Is simple, but it’s true
If you forget your wallet
It’ll cost ya – twenty five minutes for two!!!!
