I just got back from redecorating my friend’s house, and fun is not a strong enough word! I was the only one there, as she and her daughter were at work. And I went to town!
The entire time, before and during, I was praying that God would use my hands and ideas to create something that would bring her a sense of retreat, relaxation and ahhhhhhh! That my simplifying would edify and encourage her and not make her feel vulnerable or lacking in any way. That these changes would be an outward picture of the new aspects of her life and all that God has for her. I truly sensed Jesus working along side me as we played and sang together. And seemingly out of nowhere, He would give insight and creativity that I hadn’t felt when I first walked in. I love it when He does that…no manipulation or stressing or “trying” on my part.. Just Him doing His thing and letting me be part of it.
My friend is still at work so I will be anxious to hear tonight what she thought. Thanks for your prayers!!!! Jesus answered big time!!!!
Hugs….
Hi, my favorite (oldest) granddaughter!! It has been awhile since I have talked to you so thought I would see if I can function in another medium. I haven’t had much time to read your blogs…this OLD computer won’t let me on when I have the time…so I just take advantage of it when I can.
Your “impossible” grandma had crossed another milestone. We went to a 4th nursing home and sang for three people…one of them was a long time friend of Dewitt’s. They had graduated from the Nazarene College in Idaho 44 years ago and she was valedictorian and he was saluatorion. They were a delight to watch. Of course we sang again. Another fun thing we did recently was this—we often go early for breakfast and sing in the hall while waiting to get in the dining room. We started this particular morning and slowly getting up from her seat was our 102 year old sweetheart and she sang all the words with us and then the caretakers insisted that the three of us sing for breakfast. We had quite a bit of applause!!! What a riot. We plan to re-do the nursing home circuit soon.
I am recovering today from another steroid injection for my sciatic nerve. This was the most cruel of the set of three. I moaned and cried like a baby. It hurt! But today, after lazing around on my bed for most of the day, I feel all the vitality of my 90 year old body returning. If you have time….drop me a note or call me. Love you muchly.
Grandma
Grandma! I love you so much. Such a rock star, you are! Glad that you and Dewitt are still having so much fun singing. Wish I could have seen the trio with your 102 year old friend 🙂
Things are great here. Still loving colorado! Went and redecorated a friend’s house today. That was great fun! Isn’t it a blast when you get to use the gifts God has given you, for others?
So sorry about your injection and how brutal it was. Can’t believe you cried like a baby. My tough grandma? No way! Thanks for reading the blog. I haven’t been writing quite as much lately with all the other busyness going on. Life calls sometimes 🙂
Hope I’m as crazy and active and wonderful as you when I’m 90! You amaze me all the time and I am so proud of the incredible woman that you are. Thanks for taking the time to shoot me a note. I will call you soon so we can be silly and swap stories…

Jana,
Thanks for your “Happy Birthday” call yesterday – really enjoyed our visit. I read your blog depicting your arranging at your friends house. Jana, you are so full of the awareness of the presence of the Lord in your life and it just oozes out all over the place. It is a real thrill and blessing to Mama J. and me and we love you all the more for it. May your continued joy in HIM flow out and enrich all those around you. We love you so very, very much.
Papa and Nama J
Oh, papa! You just made me cry! That means so very much to me. I love doing life with Jesus, not that I always do it right by any means. But I have been “overgraced” by God in His provision of the amazing “God lovers” in my life who encourage me, spur me on, hit me upside the head sometimes, and are an ever present source of inspiration. Friends and family alike. So very precious, and something I truly do not take for granted.
Love you and Mom J so very much and it was great talking with you yesterday. Your life and devotion to Jesus have been such an example to me. Love you Papa!!! So very, very much!
