Had band practice tonight. Well it was supposed to be band practice, but it ended up being just vocals. Which was actually really fun. Just Billy and Terra and me. So we just sat around with a guitar and harmonized and laughed, and laughed and harmonized. And then we laughed some more.
I love when voices mix and mingle and become a yummy blend of rich flavor – bringing a depth and….I don’t even know. I can’t think of a good word for it. But it’s like chocolate for my ears. And when you bring your voice to the mix, you no longer hear yourself but the combination. Being a part of something bigger and better than just you alone. MMMMMmmmmmm! I just can’t describe it…
There is something about singing with others, especially acapella, that draws you together. A vulnerability of the naked voices, working together to find the right fit, the tightest harmony. The voices just out there without the cover of instrumentation. Nothing hidden. It’s beautiful.
The conversation that followed was great too. Just kind of an overflow of what happened with singing. Just real and honest and fun. Wouldn’t it be great if all of life could be like that? A sharing and singing and living from the deepest part of the heart with no reservation or fear. A beauty stemming from vulnerability. Chocolate for the entire being…
God, please help me to live and love and share and sing and laugh with a naked heart…
