After two days of work, all the shutters are in the house and look amazing! And I am not waking up at five a.m. to the sun shining in my face! And I can get out of the shower without having to crouch down out of the realm of visibility 🙂
The shutter guy, in true Colorado form, was a great guy. And he dearly loves Jesus! So we had some great talks about family, faith and life. Again, the slower pace here seems to allow people to interact with each other at a deeper level.
Mark has bas been gone all week and will be gone til Sunday night (He is running his first marathon in Seattle on Saturday. Go get ’em, baby!) So while he is gone, I thought it would be fun to surprise him by finding him a desk and credenza for his home office. I found a screaming deal at a Citi Mortgage office that just had a huge layoff and needed to sell all of their office furniture. I was able to get an executive desk, a credenza, and a wall unit – all in beautiful condition (cherry wood) and a top of the line office chair for $725.00. Retail would have been right around $4,000.00. My plan was to keep the element of surprise until he gets home on Sunday night. But I am terrible at keeping happy secrets and was so excited about it all, that I told him about 10 minutes after buying it.
The office things got delivered today. The guy who delivered it all is a laugh riot. And once again, he shared about his life and was interested in my life as well. Such a welcome change to enjoy the people who are offering a service, not just for what they are doing to help you, but as interesting people. He will come tomorrow to finish putting things together. He is going above and beyond and I am so thankful and excited. It’s gonna look so great!
Supposed to meet my old youth pastor and his wife tonight at the airport. They have a five hour layover. I haven’t seen them in almost thirty years! I am waiting to hear from them as to where to meet them. They are returning to the states after being overseas. Hoping it works out – it will be so much fun to catch up after all these years 🙂
Went and got my hair cut and colored today, which led me to another great and interesting person – my new hairdresser. She is amazing and I am so happy with what she did. And once again, she was open and fully reciprocal in conversation and it felt like we’d known each other for years.
The kids have had the same experience this week in their circles of influence. Just so incredibly thankful. Jesus is so, so, so good in His continual provision of not just our physical needs, but our social and emotional needs as well.
Wish you could all be here with me to experience my new wonderful world. Actually, you are. If not physically, always in my heart and thoughts!!!!
i miss you.
miss you, too, sweet girl!!!
