(There are a lot of unknowns in my life right now. Lots of waiting. Maybe you can relate? This is how my conversation with Jesus goes….)
And He said, “Wait.”
And she said, “But…”
“Sit tight and trust Me. I am doing things you can’t see. My hands are busy creating intricate details that wouldn’t make sense to you now, even if I showed you.”
“But…I hate waiting.”
“I know. But there is so much good stored in waiting. Faith grows. Perseverance and patience form new muscles. Spiritual maturity sets in when you trust that I have a plan. You learn more about my faithfulness.”
“But…I hate not knowing.”
“True. Then rest in the fact that I DO know, so you don’t have to! There are too many variables that you can’t see right now that would overwhelm you. I am before, and after and in this. Lean into my sovereign knowledge of the situation and the fact that I only have your best at heart.”
“But…I don’t know how to move forward.”
“I am already moving forward and you are safe in My arms, so you are moving, too, even though you can’t sense it right now. Allow me to use this time of ‘quiet unknown’ to reassure you of My love. Depend on my knowledge, not your own.”
“But…how long?”
“Just keep listening. Keep watching. And in the meantime, let me do the rest while you carry on with your day. As the details I’m working on come together, clarity will begin to emerge and things will begin to make sense in a way you can understand. I will give you the wisdom you need and the direction you’ve been asking for. Just keep your eyes and ears on me instead of the situation.”
“I’m running out of ‘buts’.”
And with His endearingly tender smile, He said, “Now you’re getting it…”

James 1:2-4 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
