Two of my girls got the chance to go spend the weekend with both sets of grandparents in Olympia, WA this weekend. Janay from Phoenix and
Abby from Denver. It was Janay’s chance to see them (and the Peabody uncles and aunts) before moving to Cambodia next month and Abby’s chance to not only see all of them but to also have a chance to say goodbye to her sister.
What a special time for all of them. I wish I could have been there, but in a way am glad I wasn’t so that my presence and conversation wasn’t a factor in all the sweetness that happened. Love, laughter, deep conversations and just catching up. Not just as grandkids visiting their grandparents, but as young women enjoying the fellowship and wisdom of these four people who have so much life experience to share with them.
My mom graciously invited a group of people to come and hear from Janay what it is she’s going to be doing in Cambodia. I heard from both sets of grandparents and Abby that she did a fantastic job of sharing her heart and the heart of the organization (Daughters of Cambodia) that she is going with. (She’ll be doing the same thing here on Friday for my friends and neighbors – can hardly wait!)
Immediately after the girls left Olympia I got a call from my parents and an email from Mark’s parents. All thrilled beyond measure to have gotten to spend the time with their granddaughters. Funny thing is, though the goal for the girls was to go and bless their grandparents, the blessing came back to them a hundredfold.
And my mama heart, even from a distance, smiled with thankfulness….
Hahaha!
LITERALLY, just left Janay’s blog after putting together our small donation towards her ministry that we are mailing to International Outreach Min. today. And then, up pops your new post/email!
God is on the move- and I want to be where He is moving. So proud of your sweet Janay. Praying for her as she winds up her life here and begins her life there. Serving her Savior- wonderful to hear!! 🙂
Love, Carrie
Oh Carrie, you are so sweet! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Her little heart that wanted “to be a missionary” at age three is now a big heart going to do just that. God IS moving in a big way and I am so thrilled (tho the thought of her living out the country – something you can well relate to!- hasn’t completely hit me yet) that the passion in her heart has outweighed her fears and that she can move forward in the confidence that comes with knowing that the presence of Jesus is with us anywhere on the globe. THIS is what she was put on this earth to do. How can mama be sad about that, right? 🙂 Thanks so very much for your support, Carrie. Love and hugs to you, Mike and the kids!
Both sets of grandparents look so young! I’m so happy to hear about this special trip. Family is so special and it was heartwarming to read this post. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Terra! How are things going for your “heading to spain” date? I was so glad to hear that you found a car to use until then! Love you, friend. Will I get to see you before you leave????
We were blessed to reconnect with your beautiful daughters at your sweet parent’s home. It was fun to catch up on their lives. I loved hearing how they are responding to God’s call to serve Him. You and Mark are BLESSED!
I wish I were there, too, but am so glad they had time to just focus on spending time with the grandparents! So glad you got to see them!
We were Blessed to reconnect with your lovely daughters at your sweet parents home. It was fun to catch-up on their lives. I enjoyed hearing how they are following God’s leading serving Him. You are BLESSED! Wish you were there!
Beautiful ladies, Jana. Denny and I were with Paul, Deb and Drew this weekend up in Tacoma area for lunch and she shared that she’d gotten to be with your parents and parents-in-law and really enjoyed them. Let me guess: the top photo is of your parents and the bottom one is of Mark’s parents. Is this correct?
Yep! Oh, wasn’t it so fun to see Debbie and Paul???? We had such a good time when they stayed with us!
