Jesus,
A new day yawns as it stretches it’s arms to reveal a new sunrise.
The day smiles as it hands me 24 hours – fresh and untouched, like a newborn.
Full of potential and promise, to be handled with care.
A day to laugh, learn and live.
24 hours that, if held well, could change and grow me.
Time, with the possibility of listening well and loving much.
Jesus,
With eager, yet trembling hands, I accept this profound and fleeting gift.
May I use it to it’s maximum and not waste or abuse it.
Help me to share this miracle of life with all who cross this 24 hour path.
May its impact outlive its short life span.
And may it birth things that have eternal purpose.
Jesus,
Show me what to do, how to hold this precious package.
Help me to stare in wonder at its mere existence
And live as if its the last 24 hours I will ever experience.
May the people in this new day matter more than the projects that call.
May the frustrations be greeted with patience
And the difficulties with perseverance.
Help me laugh more deeply with its joys
And wring out every bit of life and love that it contains.
