This is for any of us today who are feeling overwhelmed, afraid, anxious, misunderstood or grief stricken. I have talked to so many of you this week. God is on our side.
This song, “Be Still My Soul” was written in the 1700’s and was translated into English in the 1800’s. Burdened, anxious hearts are not something unique. They are universal and have been around since the beginning of time. Ask David, who wrote the Psalms.
But as ancient as this problem is, God is older still. He saw its first ugly face in the Garden of Eden when the world received its initial black eye of brokenness from the fist of sin. Adam and Eve hiding, afraid, because they had forgotten that God was on their side.
The world was left with the remnants of sin and troubled hearts was one of them.
But Jesus came to change that. To save us from the bruises and cuts and scars of a broken world, of our own doing and the doings of others. The day that He rose from the grave, death and every nasty thing associated with its sting lost its power. Oh, it still rises up to pretend it’s in control. But it cowers at the sound of Jesus’ name, of who He is and what He’s done.
God is on our side. Listen to this beautiful rendition of the centuries old hymn sung by Kari Jobe. Read the words as the song plays and claim their truth for yourself and your situation today. You are not alone…
