I spent the majority of the day yesterday with my new friend, Karen. The time flew by like it would with an old friend and it’s obvious that God orchestrated our “random” meeting.
God used her words to once again reiterate the whisperings of my heart. He is up to something. Something new and fresh and unexpected. I don’t know exactly what yet, but I’m beginning to see the penciled-in outline of His plans.
The good news is that I don’t have to fully understand everything yet. This is one of those many times when FAITH has to step up to the plate, ready to swing at the next pitch.
By nature, I would be worried about swinging too early, too late or not at all. But God is once again coaching me to just keep my eye on the ball that is IN HIS HAND at this point. There is anticipation but very little fear. He always throw good pitches. Even curve balls are used to strengthen my game.
I’ve learned to ask God to be very obvious with me in His directions. The last thing I want to do is manipulate a situation. It needs to be clear that it’s HIS idea, HIS timing, HIS plan. And until those obvious answers come, I can stop swinging at the air and save my energy for the real thing.
The cool thing is that God HAS promised us that. He wants to make His plans obvious to us. He wants our full attention so that we actually notice when He shows us the way.
God is winding up. His eye is on us, the hitters. And His goal is not to strike us out, but to help us experience that HOME RUN of a life lived by following His game plan. Our own PITCHER, our COACH, pitching for us AND cheering us on. Now that sounds like a win!
James 1:5-6 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt…
Matthew 7:7-11 – Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
