Psalm 139:7-12
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
Where can I hide from Your presence?
Where can I flee from Your love?
What shade of darkness conceals me
From Your passionate gaze up above?
Your home is not just in the heavens
You dwell in the depths of my heart
You see through the walls of the cave I have built
Your eyes pierce through each hidden part.
Where can I hide from Your presence?
Where can I flee from Your love?
The thought terrifies, reassures me
When I know I’m the one You think of.
High on the mountains You find me
Yet rescue from valleys so low
You’re there when I climb to the summit
When I fall You catch me below.
Where can I hide from Your presence?
Why would I even try?
Where can I flee from Your love?
Without it I’d certainly die.
And so I’ll run INTO Your presence
Whether I fly or I fall
I’ll bask in the sweetness of Your great love
And rest in the wonder of it all.
