My friend, Amy, shared this on Facebook a couple of days ago:
“Never hold anything in reserve. Pour yourself out, giving the best that you have, and always be poor. Never be diplomatic and careful with the treasure God gives you . . .” -O.Chambers
Oh, how I love that!
Loose hands. Open palms. Available. Passionate.
It’s not about doing more things. It’s about unabashedly living life out loud with what we’ve been given. For God’s glory and the benefit of others. To discover the specific reason why each of us was meticulously handcrafted and carefully placed on this planet. There is nothing more exciting than that “aha!” moment when you experience what you were created for.
What is your personality? What are your gifts, talents and abilities?
LET ‘EM FLOW!!!!
What have you been blessed with? What grace have you received?
PASS IT ON!!!!
What do you have to give? Time, money, skills?
SHARE THEM!!!!
“Never hold anything in reserve. Pour yourself out, giving the best that you have, and always be poor. Never be diplomatic and careful with the treasure God gives you . . .”
The vivid image that comes to mind is Mother Teresa, of course. She gave it ALL. She lived it OUT. She passed it ON. She had little but great love and shared it with EVERY SINGLE person she met. Unapologetically. Unreserved. Unafraid.
Few of us will ever fill those kind of shoes. But we weren’t meant to. God has given us the “shoes” He wants us to fill. To walk and run and jump in. The shoes that will have us always ready to share what we’ve been given. The shoes that fit our personalities and temperaments. And like Cinderella, the shoes that God designed for us are a custom fit if we put them on the right feet. Our own.
I saw three examples of this in the past two days. Three strangers that approached me out of the blue and offered their gifts, their services, their friendship to me. Strangers that weren’t afraid to give what they had (a truck to move a piece of furniture, a conversation, an invitation, a smile and a hug) and share it for my benefit. I can’t tell you how it made my heart smile.
I’m having coffee with one of those “strangers” in just a few hours.
Thank you, Amy and Oswald Chambers, for the reminder that life itself is a gift and each of has our own version to pass on with abandon.
Let’s go love this day and every person and opportunity it affords!!!!
1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…
Romans 12:6-8 – Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
2 Timothy 1:6 – For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…
