This went to work with me today….This is truly phenomenal! It has gluten, obviously, so I am paying the price….but seriously, this was sooooooooo worth it! Perfect texture meets perfect taste! Yum
SWEET PASTRY:
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. real butter, softened (no substitutions!)
- 1 egg, beaten
APPLE FILLING:
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 sliced, peeled baking apples (I used 4 Granny Smith apples)
GLAZE:
- 2 c. powdered sugar
- About 3 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. almond extract
Prepare 9×9 pan. Put half if sweet pastry in bottom of pan. Put apple mixture on top. Cover with rest of pastry. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Remove from oven. While still hot, pour glaze over and let set. Incredible!!!
