Sometimes I wake up to thoughts that I’m not sure God put there for me or for someone else or both. I’m pretty sure that most of the time the answer is both. He always teaches me through what He has me write “out loud” and, hopefully, it benefits at least one person out there reading.
This morning’s thought before my eyes were even open was so clear, but such a new thought for me.
Here goes…
Every time we hit a snag in the road – disappointment, grief, being overwhelmed by life in general – we have a choice as to how we’ll deal with it. We either run to it/through it, or we run from it.
But here is where I had my “aha” moment this morning.
Anything that we turn to to “cope” other than God – ANYTHING – helps us to FORGET.
Turning to God does just the opposite. It helps us REMEMBER.
It helps us REMEMBER:
-That He is there. (Matthew 28:20 – “…I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”)
-That He never changes. (Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.)
-That He loves us. (Romans 8:39 – …nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God…)
-That He has a plan. (Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you…to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”)
-That He promised never to leave us. (Deut. 31:6 – The Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.)
-That He works in EVERYTHING to turn it to good. (Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…)
The choice is ours every single time. We can be passive and try to FORGET what is happening in our lives. Or we can be active and REMEMBER and watch to see what God is going to do through it.
Run from or run to and through…
