God adores kids. Children are referenced over and over again in Scripture. He uses them as an example of the condition our hearts should be in. Soft, responsive, vulnerable, open, loving, accepting.
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus came to us as a child? Soft, responsive, vulnerable, open, loving, accepting. He came to us in the way He asks us to come to Him. As a little child.
Christmas is the celebration of that Child. The Child that came to win our hearts and change our lives. The Little One who came to be one of us and grow up in our broken world because He loved us so much.
After what has happened in Newtown, we are once again very aware of the innocence of children. As stories begin to emerge from grieving parents, we see that precious spirit in each of them – soft, responsive, vulnerable, open, loving, accepting. Created in the very image of God and reflective of what God desires in all of us. That childlike heart.
Twenty little souls dance to Christmas music in heaven today. They celebrate the Child that came TO US. WITH US. FOR US. And His child heart dances with them…
Matthew 18:3 – And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven…”
Mark 10:14 – He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 25:40 – “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
