I know it’s kinda early, but I wrote this in anticipation of the craziness that can be Christmas…Just to remind myself 🙂

v. 1 –

Stockings deck the fireplace

Presents ’round the tree

Colored lights

That twinkle bright

“Merry Christmas!” choirs sing.

But Merry isn’t what I feel

When lists are miles long

Of things to do

That list just grew

My heart has lost its song.

Chorus –

So I come to You on bended knee

Look in Your eyes,

Your love to see

And take Your hand with just one plea

“Jesus, will you Merry Me?”

v.2 –

Merry Christmas cards to write

Crowds that push and shove

To get a steal

On Christmas deals

My heart has lost the love.

Merry Christmas things to bake

Parties still to plan

This crazy race

At frantic pace

Feels like things are out of hand.

Chorus –

So I come to You on bended knee

Look in Your eyes,

Your love to see

And take Your hand with just one plea

“Jesus, will you Merry Me?”

v. 3 –

Then I look up on the mantle

To the sweet Nativity

That Christmas night

A Star shone bright

At the birth of Deity.

Mary there on bended knee

To love her Son, the King

He had her heart

Right from the start

This Baby, life would bring…

Chorus –

So I come to You on bended knee

Look in Your eyes,

Your love to see

And take Your hand with just one plea

“Jesus, will you Mary Me?”

Bridge –

It’s not about the presents

It’s not about the tree

The lights that glow

The falling snow

There’s so much more to see

The Merry in our Christmas

The” glad tidings of great joy”

Is there because

(And always was)

Of the birth of a holy Boy.

May my heart not just be Merry

But like Mary’s was that day

Worshipping

The living King

The Life, the Truth, the Way…

Chorus –

So I come to You on bended knee

Look in Your eyes,

Your love to see

And take Your hand with just one plea

“Jesus, will you Mary Me?”
