Today was a major milestone at Crossroads Community Church in Parker, Colorado. It was the last Sunday in our current building and moving day into our new one!
There were mixed emotions. Those who have been with this church since its beginning fought the lump in their throat as they remembered all that God has done in that location over the past nine or so years. The old, too-small building with its inefficient septic system and inadequate swamp coolers has seen a growth of more than 10 times its original congregation’s size.
John Snyder (our dear friend and pastor) has been at this church since before its numbers hit triple digits. In his typical, humble way, he gives all credit for the growth to God’s miraculous power and work in our community. And, of course, he would be absolutely correct in doing so. God HAS done great things.
But today, I want to give overdue credit to the man that God has used to lead this growing number of people. John’s humble spirit, along with his deep love, care and concern for the people in both our church and in our community profoundly impacts lives. He loves not just with his kind words, but with his practical actions, his fervent prayers and his investment in the lives of people.
John has taken seriously Jesus’ words to “love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself” and has made those two things not only his life goal, but a consistent pattern in every day of his life. His faith is his life. His life radiates love. And His love is changing his world.
John, I’m sure today was both sentimental and exhilarating for you. A chapter is ending and new one is beginning. A new adventure has begun. We don’t know exactly WHAT God will do in the beautiful new home that He has provided for our church, but we DO know that He has something wonderful up His sleeve. Thank you for waiting on His timing. Thank you for putting people ahead of programs and timelines. God has honored your life and your faith today. Thank you for leading us into this new journey, and for listening so closely to the One who gives directions at just the right time.
God is so, so good….
