Have you tried the “vaseline and spray paint” technique from Pinterest? Awesome!
First, I took a sturdy, but very plain and boring wood table that I found at the Goodwill for $5.00.
I wanted to make it look vintage, with “peeling paint” and places where the raw wood would show through. Found an idea on Pinterest. You strategically put vaseline on various places on the table then spray with spray paint over the top. Let sit for about 15 minutes, the wipe with a dry cloth. The areas where the vaseline was will “let go” of it’s paint, and the parts with no vaseline will obviously “hang on” to the paint. The result?
The dogs actually helped me on this project. While I was showering the other day, they decided to rip apart one of my antique books. I was furious at first but then it hit me. Why not take those tattered pages and “mod podge” them onto the table top? And so…I did. And I love how it turned out!
I did the same thing with a little wooden rocking horse that I also found for $5.00 –
And then there was the little side project of a purse/bag:
CUTE! purse/bag.
In paper crafting, what you did with the vaseline is called “emboss resist”. It’s such a cool look.
Oh, that sounds much more impressive that way! 🙂 Thanks, Kathy!
