I hear You whisper, “Come sit for a spell”
I know that it’s You.
It’s Your voice, I can tell.
Calling me over to sit by Your side
Your words are convincing
With Your arms open wide.
I remember that place, I remember it well
Where You draw me in
And I know I am held.
My head on Your chest as You sing over me
My ear to Your heart
To hear every beat.
I can recall the warmth of that place I call home
Where my soul comes to rest
Where my mind always roams.
So why don’t I go there so much more than I do?
Why do I choose busyness
When I could be with You?
It’s an open invitation
Admission is free
You ask me to join You
Then wait patiently.
The table is set for a party of two
One place for me
The other for You.
I smell sweet aromas of the feast You’ve prepared
Every bite made with Your sweet loving care.
But it’s Your sweet face that I can’t resist
Smiling as my name crosses Your lips.
So I kick off my shoes, run to arms open wide
Soak in Your hug, then sit by Your side.
Ready to listen to each word that You say
Ready to sing with You, ready to pray.
Help me remember why I so love this place
How far it surpasses the world’s hectic pace.
Thanks for meeting me here for a spell
It’s Your favorite part of my day, I can tell…
Isaiah 55:1 – Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Matthew 11:28 – Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
