I have an old frame above my piano that is filled with the ripped and tattered pages of old piano music. As I’m staring at it, I’m listening to the muse of my piano music. The visual and the sound together brought to mind an analogy…
Each of the notes, in and of itself, is small and monotone. By itself it is just a sound. It truly becomes music when it joins other notes. It looks more lovely on the page, as if dancing across the paper with its partners. It sounds more beautiful as it holds hands with the other notes and combines efforts to create a song.
Every note is different. Some fill in spaces and others sit on lines. Some are flat and others sharp. Some are quick and others linger. But each has its place in a song.
We are all notes. Individually lovely. Every note unique and essential. And when we join other notes, a powerful force. A beautiful melody. A masterpiece that stirs souls.
When the Maestro takes the music that He has written, each note that He has personally drawn, every song that He has painstakingly penned, a thing of beauty happens. As His fingers grace the keys to play this masterpiece, His eyes close and His smile widens. He savors the richness of this music He has created. And the world can’t help but stop and listen…
