I have never seen wind like we have here in Parker sometimes. Yesterday was a prime example. Fierce and powerful wind. Completely destroys whatever it is that you did with your hair that day…
Amazing how something invisible can affect everyone and everything it touches. I couldn’t see the wind yesterday, but I could see exactly what it was doing by the way the trees were dancing and swaying, the way that anything not tied down was flying around, even the way that the car shifted on the road while I was driving. I could hear the creaks and groans of the house as it felt the wind’s power, the whistling sound as it brushed past our windows. And again, my hair with all it’s “keep in place” products, was testimony of the wind’s strength to mess up even three inches armed with goo.
So obvious, isn’t it? The wind’s analogy to God. One day we will see Him, but for now He is “invisible” to the human eye. We can’t “see” Him. But, oh, can we see what He is doing in and all around us! Touching lives with His tender strength, transforming situations with His infinite wisdom and might. The wind of His presence creating a breeze of relief and refreshment from difficult times. His moving air breathing life into once dead or defeated souls. The magic of His gust sweeping in and healing broken hearts and lives. If we look closely and carefully, we CAN see the invisible at work around us and in us every minute of every day. And it is a beautiful and amazing thing…
Whether today brings a gust of mighty wind that changes my direction or a gentle breeze that simply refreshes, I want to watch for the invisible. I want to see what my heart looks at and for with its eyes wide open in wonder..
John 3:8 – The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
