Just had a conversation
Three of us were there
The banter going back and forth
Each had a chance to share.
We chatted while we drove
As to which way we should go
One of us was whispering,
“Do you think she really knows
How to navigate this road
Or how to get us there?”
The other simply giggled
And said she didn’t care.
The driver kept on driving
But could hear all of their doubts
And when she almost hit that car
She heard the frightened shouts.
We listened to our music
As we continued on our way
We kept on changing stations
So each could have their say.
We belted out with all we had
Each song the DJ played
Tried out different harmonies
Sounded pretty good, I’d say.
Jokes were shared back and forth
We thought we were a riot
A guaranteed laugh, an easy crowd
(you really ought to try it!)
We prayed together right out loud
As we neared our destination
But the driver didn’t close her eyes
That would lead to devastation!
We talked about our lives
And vented our frustrations
Before we knew it, we were there
At our final destination.
But only one would venture in
And represent all three
We drew straws, I got the short
And so it fell on me.
You see, people tend to stop and stare
And I’m not sure why
When the three of us are talking
Me, Myself, and I….
