But I can see the bruises
I can see your pain
The scars that go beyond your skin
Where words have left their stain.
Your heart has taken beatings
No one was meant to bear

Of hopelessness, despair.

Past the sound of angry words?

Past the hands that have brought hurt?

It’s me who wipes your tears

I know the pain of angry words
The weight of others’ sins
I’ve been beaten, bloodied, bruised
And watched the bad guys win.
But when I hung upon that tree

As I took the thorns, the nails, the cross
My heart broke too, with love.
Evil will not get last word
I took away its spell
I rose again to conquer it
And send it back to hell.

Let me soothe your weary heart
And tend the wounds your soul has known

Ephesians 3:17-19 – And I pray that you… may…grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
