The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He refreshes my soul,

He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil,  for You are with me;

Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;  my cup overflows.

Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Jesus,

Today I was with a friend who is experiencing that “darkest valley” and she has no choice but to walk through it.  So I am asking You, as her shepherd, to walk with her.  To guide her.  To lead her to still waters and green pastures that draw her soul out of this desert.  That place where Your heart and Your love for her will soothe her and salve her pain.

Let her feel the comfort of Your rod and staff – your protection of her life, her heart and her mind.  Help her to know that as her shepherd, You are there to guide her on this uncharted territory and that your watch over her is 24/7.

Remind her that she doesn’t need to fear because of that fact.  You are there with her.  Even on the days she can’t see You or hear You or sense You at all.  Your presence is not dependent upon our feelings.

Prepare a feast for her of your blessing in the middle of her enemies – fear and dread and pain.  Allow her to see glimpses of Your work in her life through this time of hurt and suffering.  And thus, let her eyes and heart feast on Your miracles amid the madness.

And make her fully aware that no matter where this path may lead or the turns it may take, that Your goodness and love will follow her every single day of her life and will carry her through anything and everything.  And that through this situation, she will experience an intimacy with You that she has never known before.  A new depth of understanding and love and relationship with You, her shepherd, savior and friend…

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...

xo, jana
