Last night we got to go to dinner with friends and then attend the  musical “Little Shop of Horrors” put on by our high school.  (It was an amazing show – the acting, singing, music and costumes and props were phenomenal! ) After the show, we came home for apple crisp with vanilla ice cream.  It may have been my greatest apple crisp accomplishment to date. Not even kidding…  Delicious!

*Helpful hint – If you don’t yet have an apple peeler, corer, slicer, it is well worth the investment.  So easy and fast!

Apple Crisp

7 apples, sliced, cored and peeled (I like to use four Granny Smiths and 3 Gala or Johnagold’s – the mix of tart and sweet)

3/4 cup sugar

4 Tbsp. flour

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/8 tsp. salt

Combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt and put in greased 9×13 pan.

Combine:

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup flour

1 cup oats

1 cup butter

This combination will be sticky and thick.  Crumble over the apples.  Bake in 375 degree oven for 40 minutes.

While still hot, top with:

Caramel sauce

Vanilla ice cream

Seriously good stuff!  And it makes the whole house smell good!
