Good News!   Don’t we love that phrase?  It tells us that something good has happened.  Something exciting.  It gives us hope.  It is a declaration of a positive message.  It makes us lean forward in anticipation of what the “good news” is.  We want to know.  We want to be part of it.  And when someone says, “I have good news!”  we know that that message is directed at and meant for us.  It will impact us in someway for the better.

But no one ever says, “Guess what?  I have great news!  Here is a task list of things for you to do!”  Well, I might say that in jest to my kids (and probably have), but in reality, good news is something that has already occurred.  Already happened and done.

Hmmmmmmm.  The word Gospel literally means Good News!  It is a message directed at  and meant for us.  It gives us hope and promise.  A message that changes our lives forever for the good.  And it is not a list of to do’s.  It’s good NEWS.  It’s already happened.  It’s been done.  Jesus did it for us.  And anything that we do after that will hopefully reflect our thankfulness for such a great message.

Guess what?  I have GOOD NEWS!  Jesus loves us so much that He paid the price so we don’t have to try and get to heaven on our own.  The good life we try to  live couldn’t do it.  The great things we try to do, not enough.  He did the good on the cross.  He blotted out our mistakes and failures.  The GOOD NEWS is that we don’t have to depend on ourselves and what we can do.  He has given us Himself.  And He is more than enough….and that is really good news!

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
