I’m not even gonna try to pretend that I’m not proud of this one…..
Last night at the “pre-game” dinner, everyone brought appetizers to share. Blake and I brought our “Jarvis Famous” cheese fondue. Deeeeeelish. We were left with a bunch of two inch pieces of bread for dipping. I would have just thrown them out, but someone mentioned using them for french toast bites. It was wonderful bread, so I thought, sure, why not?
So while Blake was out shoveling snow off the driveway this morning, I worked on a new type of fondue. A breakfast fondue. He gave it a two thumbs up and so did I 🙂
So here it is –
French Toast Fondue
A bunch of cut up pieces of french bread
4 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 Tbsp. sugar
(Keep in mind that these measurements are guessitamates…I just threw things in a bowl)
Mix the eggs, milk, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Throw bread pieces in and stir around to coat the pieces with the mixture.
Put on prepared griddle and brown on all sides. Mmmmmm….smells so delicious while this is happening!
Then dip in:
Fondue Sauce
2 cups maple syrup
1/2 – 3/4 cup peanut butter
(We Jarvi can’t have french toast without peanut butter!)
Warm this concoction up in the microwave for two minutes in a small bowl.
Put french toast pieces on a plate. Clear a spot in the middle of the plate for the sauce bowl. Dip pieces in sauce and thoroughly enjoy! (I was thinking that next time we could also fire up the oil fondue and do bacon and sausage that way! Fondue for breakfast…what a thought!)
