I talked to my grandma again this morning.  Always amazes me.  She does not sound even remotely close to being ninety one.  She is funny as heck.  She is spunky and feisty and full of life and vim and vigor.  And every single time we talk, she makes me smile all the way down to my toes. 🙂  Grandma, YOU ROCK!!!

She called for a couple of reasons.  For one, she wanted to tell me that my aunt had fixed my pulled chicken recipe that I posted a couple of days ago and that it was delicious.  (Thanks, Aunt Connie, for giving it a whirl with me!)  The second reason was that she wanted to find out how soon I would like to get the writings of my great, great, great grandmother (if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you read one of her poems that I posted a while back entitled Timeless Words).  Of course I said ASAP!  I thought that the timing was so perfect.  I just met with my editor a couple of days ago to begin on my book, and I would LOVE to incorporate some of those old writings in with my own!  I cannot wait to get my hands on them and pour through the writings and emotions of one of the women in my ancestry who has clearly impacted my life through her love for words and the Word.  Imagine unfolding a piece of history with me and bringing this woman’s memory back to life!  Doesn’t that sound just delicious????

So thank you, Grandma, for making my whole day.   Excited to share this new adventure with you – melding past, present and future together.  Wow.  I can hardly stand it!

(p.s. Grandma also informed me that the woman who wrote these things  was the daughter-in-law of Dwight L. Moody (the famous pastor/evangelist), and that her sister-in-law (May Moody) wrote the music for the old hymn Moment By Moment.  And my grandma’s great grandmother’s sister on the other side was the wife of General MacArthur! – so maybe that is why I’m a fighter and a writer!) – I just looked up Moment By Moment on google and May’s father  – Daniel Whittle – wrote the words and she wrote the music….so fun to listen to.  They also had a picture of her old organ that she composed it on and it is now at the Moody Bible Institute 🙂

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
