Tonight we have our second Night Cap get together.  A group of about a dozen women from all walks of life and various backgrounds.  A cornucopia of vibrant, real, imperfect, amazing women who come together to encourage each other, to find each others’ strengths and seek out ways that we can impact our homes, our communities, our world. Together, we are looking at the book “Captivating” that so beautifully describes who we are created to be as women – not our roles, but our very nature, and how that nature is representative of God Himself.  The thought is thrilling and if we can even grasp a portion of it, it will change our lives and the lives of those around us.

This morning as I am praying for these women and our time together tonight, I couldn’t help but think about some of the great women of the bible.  Women whom God loved deeply and whom through whom He worked mightily.  There are so many!  Just off of the top of my head I thought of Eve, Tamar, Ruth, Esther, Debra, Miriam, Rahab in the Old Testament.  And in the New Testament, Mary (Jesus’ Mother), Mary and Martha, Mary Magdalene, Elizabeth, Dorcas, Priscilla and all the many women that He healed and touched and forgave.  God, through Jesus, marked Christianity as different in the way that He valued and treated and loved women.  Remarkable.  Beautiful.

Knowing that we are loved and valued by the God of the universe, that we are cherished and heard and understood and celebrated, should empower us to envision Him being able to do great things through us.  Not because of who we are, but because He created us for such things.  We are daughters of the King.  Brides of the Prince of Peace.  And we carry within us His heart, His compassion, His love to be poured out on everyone we come in contact with, and to make a difference in their lives.

Please pray with me for this great group of women.  We are just getting to know each other.  Pray that Satan won’t distract or cause discord in the group, but that we will be united with one purpose – to love God deeply and to love people profoundly.

Jesus, I go into this day excited to be a woman.  A woman who loves You and who is loved by You.  An imperfect, flawed girl who wants to be used by You  in whatever way makes sense to You.  Help me not get in the way or run ahead as I tend to do.  Help me to stop and listen to Your voice before I express my own.  It always works out so much better that way 🙂  I love You.  Let’s go do this day….

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
