This morning I woke to a beautiful layer of snow on the ground.  There is an amazing quiet, peaceful feeling that comes with fallen snow.  I don’t know what that is, but for me this morning it was also a reminder of God’s goodness and provision.  Because it reminded me of a story…

Exodus 16:11-12, 14-15, 18 – The Lord said to Moses, “…in the morning you will be filled with bread.  Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”…When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor.  When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.  Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.”…Each one gathered as much as he needed…

God provides.  He provided food for the Israelites through the manna He gave them miraculously.  And it was not just for their physical needs.  It was for their spiritual needs as well.  They needed to recognize, again, that God was their provider.  They needed to remember that “I am the Lord your God.”  They needed to be snapped out of their complaining mode, their fear mode, their lack of faith mode and return to a place of awe and thankfulness to their Provider.

Today as I look out at the beautiful layer of white on the ground, on the streets, on the houses, I will remember that He is the Lord my God.  I will remember that He is the one who provides.  Not just for my physical needs, but for my emotional and spiritual needs as well.  And I will be thankful beyond words to the One has shown His love once again in such a lovely way.
