I was reading about Moses again this morning. Seeing if there was anything I missed the first time. And this time something else struck me.
God called out to Moses when He saw that He had caught his attention with the burning bush. (God gets our attention, then speaks to us.) Then Moses said, “Here I am”. (Availability). Then God tells Him His plan. Moses says, “Who am I?” (We recognize our unworthiness of being used by God). And God says, “I am who I am.” (God reminds us that it is not about what we can offer but about what He can offer through us.)
So, it seems to me that the lesson here is based around two words that are differently placed…
God gets our attention
We say, “Here I AM.”
God tells us His plan
We say, “Who AM I?”
God reminds us
He says, “I AM who I AM.”
“I” and “am”. Two little words. But they have a huge impact if they declare our availability, our humility, and God’s power. This is when things really start to happen. And I want to be in on that action!
I AM IN!!!!
Thank you. I needed that today.
Yep. Me, too. 🙂
