Remember my Painted Ladies addendum post? Well, last night I was trying to scrub what I thought was dirt off my arm and then realized that my entire right forearm and both of my armpits are fully bruised from me losing my footing and hanging from the rafters a couple of days ago. It ain’t pretty…
Isn’t that a mental picture of what we struggle with in life? We are going along just fine and then slip, lose our footing and then try to hang on to what brought us to that point in the first place before eventually letting go and letting Jesus catch us and give us a solid place to stand again. We are safe finally, but are left with the bruises of the fall. But hopefully the pain and ugliness of those bruises will help us to avoid making the same misstep.
Psalm 40:1-2 – “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Jesus, please help me to avoid “green stools on countertops” in my life. Help me sink my toes into you, my only solid foundation….
