I was challenged by a friend to find a high school picture and post it on my “Who I Am” page. In the digging I came across a book that I put together in 1983 to give to Mark to show him a little history of who I was growing up. It was crazy to look at again after all these years. Lots of “firsts”. Some of you know me from some of these “earlier” years….I’m sure this seems silly, but it was somehow therapeutic today…:-)

So that was a glimpse of my life before real life actually began. I have aged considerably, hopefully matured a little, but ask Jesus daily to keep the same child’s heart inside me. Joy and pain and life have had their way with my face, my body. And hopefully they have also had their way with my heart to make it softer, gentler and more childlike…
I remember those times. I remember meeting you at the bus-stop that first day of kindergarten. I remember a dog named Trixie. I remember Jeff announcing to me that his middle name was Douglas. I remember watching “Othello” with Julie and you in your room and eating popcorn with cheese on it (a first for me). I remember the tiara, and your angst over whether or not to accept it. I remember you driving an ice-cream truck one summer. And I remember the yellowpage ad… Ah, those were the days!
Oh, girl, you have a memory!!! I so remember the bus stop with the shelter our dads built. If Jeff told you his name was Douglas, he was lying. It was actually Donald! Did we watch Othello in my room? Must have been the living room – only one t.v.! And oh, yes, the drama of accepting or not accepting the crown (since I wasn’t allowed to go to dances) and the infamous ice cream truck, that nearly backed over and killed me! We did have an awesome childhood didn’t we, Susan? 🙂
Awesome! I specifically remember Jeff saying it was Douglas, but then again, that WAS a long time ago! And I believe you found a way to set up the TV in your room just for the Othello party. Then, later, we went to Julie’s and named her baby goats Desdemona and Antigone. Don’t know if that stuck though. Fun times!
That is incredible that you remember all that! I didn’t even remember that my puppy was named Trixie! Girl, you have got to write a book so I can remember my own childhood! 🙂 Hugs!
